Killian O'Flaherty

8th Gen Stonemason

I am an 8th Generation Stonemason / Stone Cutter. From the village of Ballyknockan (“The Granite Village”) in Wicklow, Ireland. Although I come from a long line of stonemason experts, I am the first stone cutter. Originally mentored by Tom Little, Today I am the proud owner of O’Flaherty Stone.

My garden wall was leaning over for some time and i was worried that it was becoming a danger when my kids were playing in the garden. Killian and his team repaired and reinforced the wall using a series of block pillars, new foundations and mechanical fixings to prevent my wall having further decay or damage. My stone entrance piers were crashed into by a delivery van just before christmas and broke a huge corner off my pier capping. I wanted to get a company that are trusted, reliable and professional. When choosing how to have my dad's headstone done, I loved how Killian explained to us the difference between hand cut lettering and sandblasting he was very up front offering us option A and option B he said option A you can get it sand blasted for x amount and it will last 30 years and B would cost X amount but last 3000 years. I instantly knew what to choose. The difference in price was substantial however I appreciated the longevity it would offer to my fathers name. The entire process was seamless.

We’re currently remodeling and really wanted to add some Irish granite to the house but were on a budget ,Killian suggested granite window or door surrounds or some solid granite steps to the front and back door s We decided as the works on the house is still in progress we would get killian to make the window and door surrounds and then we can get the steps afterward We were really pleased working with killian he was able to facilitate our needs He gave us a selection of options without a salesman approach giving us freedom to choose what suited us best. Looking forward to working with Killian again.

I signed up to the headstone maintenance service O'Flaherty Stone offers and am very pleased i did as i found my family plot got neglected and it was always a stress or a rush to get it cleaned and fresh coming up to anniversaries and at christmas It was great to do a one off payment at the beginning of the year to get the plot maintained twice a year and not have to worry about it on mums anniversary or at christmas time. The carvings were so detailed, impressive and really stands out . His team were able to fit the headstone in time for dad's anniversary. We were all really pleased with how it turned out.

Killian did a wonderful job on the headstone for our father. He gave us options dependent on budget. From there we knew what direction we wanted to go in . option A was a celtic cross and option B was a chunky boulder, we decided to go with option A as dad loved all things celtic . Once we decided to go with that everything was taken care of and made very easy The carvings were so detailed, impressive and really stands out . His team were able to fit the headstone in time for dad's anniversary. We were all really pleased with how it turned out.
